Can’t Buy Me Self-Love

A must-read!

Pastel Sparkles

Self-Love and Body Confidence are two topics that I think are extremely important and I think that they deserve to be talked about. I am so passionate about people having confidence in themselves and how they look. I think that it is important for us to see who we are, accept it and learn to love it because life is just too short to be looking in the mirror and not liking what you see. What brought on this post was a gif set of Laverne Cox (Sheena) on The Mindy Project that I saw on tumblr. It hit me pretty hard. It went something like this:
Sheena: “Now tell me what you see?”
Mindy: “Two hot black girls and a fat load in a track suit.”
Sheena: “That’s cold. Now, if the person in the mirror was your best friend, would you be as mean to her as…

My Journey to Better Skin with the Clarisonic Mia: 2 Week Update

Hi Everyone!

So if you caught my post two weeks ago, I bit the bullet and purchased the Clarisonic Mia. I’m not going to go into huge detail why since I did talk about that in my ‘pre-use‘ post. This post is going to be chronicling my first 2 weeks using the Clarisonic Mia. I’ll note how I feel about it, if I noticed any changes in my skin or anything else that comes up.

First Impression

I let the Clarisonic charge for 24 hours as recommended and I could hardly wait to use it. I’ll admit I probably hyped up the first use a bit. I opted not to use the cleanser that came with it and just use my regular cleanser since I know my skin likes that. The cleanser I use is the Simple Foaming Cleanser. I initially pumped it right onto the device, but I switched and ended up just putting it on my face first, it spreads easier that way. It definitely was a little rougher than I expected, not painful or anything but not soft soft if that makes sense. You definitely want to make sure both your face and the brush are pretty wet or it will drag. I used it for 1 minute and afterwards my skin felt pretty much the same, maybe a touch softer. I wasn’t wearing any makeup before I used it so I couldn’t see how it worked to remove makeup or anything like that. My skin didn’t feel tight or dry. So after first use there was no change which is to be expected.

The Rest of Week 1 and 2

I have now used the Clarisonic once a day for 14 days and I’m already so attached to it. It takes off my makeup quickly and my skin just feels clean afterwards. In terms of my skin, I started off with dry patches like I mentioned in the initial pre-use post and those have fully cleared up. I initially wasn’t sure my skin could handle using this every day, but I haven’t felt dry at all so that’s great. My skin does feel soft, like really, really soft.

Now I’ve heard that the Clarisonic can make you break out since it’s pushing all the dirt out of your pores. I’m seeing a little of that but not majorly. I’ve had a couple of small blemishes on my forehead and nose, but nothing extreme. I never break out on my forehead so I can pretty accurately associate it with the Clarisonic.

I’m going to include a photo from 2 weeks ago and from today so we can see side by side if there is any difference thus far.

2 week update

IMG_6591

Excuse the resting bitch face, it was bedtime. So in all not a ton of change that I can see, but my skin does feel really soft and hydrated. I don’t know, can you see a difference? I’m still not entirely sure how long it will take to see changes but I’m willing to be patient because I already (so far) love my Clarisonic.

If you’ve used the Clarisonic, how long did it take for you to see changes in your skin? Let me know in the comments, I’m really curious.

March 2015 Favourites

Hi Everyone!

April is around the corner and that means it’s time to round up my favourite products for the month of March. I don’t have a ton of makeup favourites for this month, but I do have some skincare, body care and a perfume to include. So let’s get right to it!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (what a mouthful of a name)

IMG_6581

My first favourite of the month is a concealer I have been testing out for a few weeks. I’m a big fan of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation so when I saw that they were coming out with a concealer I was super excited. I’m always looking for a great highlighting  concealer to brighten so I decided to give this a go. My usual Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer had just run out so it was perfect timing. I picked up the lightest shade, Fair Neutral which is just light enough to highlight slightly. They only have neutral and warm shades it seems and the range doesn’t offer any cool shades. I’m cool toned and the neutral is just fine for me. This concealer has good coverage and blends out way easier than the Nars so that’s one of the reasons I’ve been enjoying it, but my favourite part is the wand. The wand in this concealer is so awesome. It’s a flat double sided doefoot so it collects just the right of product for highlighting all over my face. Plus the wand is super soft and flexible so it literally glides across the skin. It’s on the thicker side so a little goes a long way. It’s super hard for me to find a shade light enough to brighten and this is the closest I’ve come.

St. Ives Fresh Hydration Lotion

IMG_6587

I do have one body care favourite for March. I don’t know about anyone else but I take tons of time to care for my face, but I’m terrible at caring for the skin on the rest of my body. I skip out way too often on using lotion after a shower or anything. I picked up this lotion from Walmart frankly because the spray top intrigued me. Everything is better in a spray can I think (except cheese…blah). This is way faster than the traditional pump or tub of lotion and it dries significantly faster so I don’t get that sticky feeling. It has a wide sprayer so it covers quite a bit of area at once. The sprayer makes it super quick to get your back too which is handy. And the scent I got is Energizing Citrus and Vitamin C so it smells amazing!

MAC Lip Pencil- Soar

IMG_6579

My second makeup favourite is MAC’s lip pencil in Soar. This was my first MAC lip pencil and I think I’m addicted. I just love using a pencil all over my lips for a super defined and matte look. I’m really into that lately. I went into MAC looking for another pencil that was sold out and the sales associate suggested this instead. Now I’ve heard of this but never picked it up because frankly I could care less about Kylie Jenner’s trend and I figured I’d be too pale to wear this. Once I swatched it I knew I would like it so I picked it up and now I can’t put it down. The shade is the perfect mix of pink and brown and isn’t too dark for my fair skin. Plus this pencil is super versatile. It can go with most nudes, but I’ve also paired it with peachy-pink lipsticks and it looked awesome.

IMG_6580

Marc Jacobs Daisy Perfume

IMG_6578

I have a perfume favourite for this month. Earlier this month (end of last maybe) I was lucky enough to be gifted this by by friend Jen. She knows how much I love this perfume and how I’ve contemplated buying it for months and have just never went through a purchased it. This is the scent my mom always wore when I was little so it has sentimental memories I think. It’s a warm, floral scent that is sophisticated but not too old for me. I was extremely surprised to get this, but it was so sweet of Jen to pick this out for me.

MAC Vanilla Pigment

IMG_6584

Vanilla pigment has been a huge favourite of mine this month, not as a shadow but as a highlighter. I picked this up in the ‘to-go’ size since pigments last so long and that makes this a $12 highlighter. This has a really pretty iridescence that looks really pretty when it catches the light. It’s perfect because it can be tapped on super light or brought right up to intense by layering or using it damp. I like to use my finger with this, it’s the easiest method since the container is difficult to get a brush into. It’s just the perfect mix because of it’s white base with both pink and gold in it. If you have Colourpop’s Girly, they are pretty similar.

IMG_6582

Clarisonic Mia

IMG_6585

If you saw my Pre-Use post, then you would have seen me mention that I recently purchased a Clarisonic Mia. I was originally going to post a 1 week update, but the timing was bad so I decided to post a 2 week update instead, in case you’re wondering. This isn’t a favourite because I’ve seen drastic changes as of yet, but it’s a favourite because it has just because an integral part of my routine. I use this every single night and my skin just feels clean after. I used to be kind of lazy about washing my face if I hadn’t worn makeup that day, but now I use this even if I didn’t wear makeup that day. It really makes my skin feel clean and so soft! I will give all the details of how it’s going when I post my 2 week update on Saturday.

Milani Luminoso

IMG_6586

I have been reaching for an oldie but a goodie in my collection all month long. This blush always looks good. It’s perfect to wake up my face but it’s not too much. I never get sick of this. I mentioned this in my favourite Peach/Coral products and it was one of the first products I thought of for that post. I think everyone should have this. It has some shimmer, but it doesn’t accentuate texture, lines or anything like that.

IMG_6467

So that’s it for my March Favourites. I hope you enjoyed this post. Leave me a comment below with your favourites for March!

Bye for now!

Brow Routine: 2015

Hi Everyone!

Today I decided that I’m going to share my brow routine. Lately, I have been getting stopped often by people asking me about my brows- what do I use, how did I get them to look like that? Etc. I think I’ve finally nailed down a routine that I really like, so it’s the right time to share it. I will be using Anastasia Beverly Hills products in this tutorial since these are the best ones that I’ve found. Of course this is just what works for my brows and my face, but it should be helpful for those of you experimenting with filling in your brows.

Tools

  • Facial Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • A Brow Brush
  • Spoolie

Grooming

In terms of grooming, I do maintain my brows myself for the most part. I’m not a professional, but this method has been working well for me. I will occasionally get them threaded to clean them up, but usually I just do it myself. I have never gotten my brows waxed because the thought of someone yanking on the skin around my eyes scares me. Maybe irrational, but I can’t shake the thought.

The best piece of advice I can offer you in terms of brows is to maintain them and maintain them often. Pluck and trim often. I will pluck almost every time before I do my makeup because it’s way easier to see where stray hairs are than if you leave them and then try to do one big groom. If you leave it too long, it can be super hard to see where to tweeze and that’s when you pull out hairs that you shouldn’t.

In addition to tweezing, I also trim pretty often. My brows grow wild in the front so trimming is a must. The best thing you can get to help you with this is a spoolie. You can find them pretty inexpensively, but mine came on the end of my brow brush. To trim them, you’re going to want to do a little at a time, this will help prevent mistakes. If you’re not comfortable trimming yourself you can of course get a professional to do this part and just do the tweezing on your own.

I’ll first comb through my brows with the spoolie. Then I will take my spoolie and comb all the hairs down. My brows have a pretty rounded arch so it’s easy for me to see what’s long. I will then take my scissors and trim any hair that is below the arch. I then repeat for the other brow. Sometimes I’ll comb down again and trim a little extra if there is any. Then I repeat the same process but this time I comb the hairs up and trim anything that is above the top line of my brow. For this step all hold the spoolie there while I trim to keep the hairs up otherwise the hairs won’t stay up and in place for me to trim.

Combing down:

IMG_6502

Combing up:

IMG_6504

Once i have the main part of my brows trimmed, I will carefully trim the front part of my brow. This is challenging because the hairs in the front of my brow grows in different directions, but I just trim enough so it’s not super noticeable. If there are some that are obviously out of place in the front, I’ll pluck but I try not to pluck too much because it can make your brows look really bizarre and harsh if you mess up the front.

Filling in

My natural brows:

IMG_6490

Now onto the good part. Filling in your brows. You can fill on your brows to do a variety of things, even if your brows aren’t sparse. My brows aren’t really sparse, but I fill them in to even them out since one arch is higher than the other, make them look polished and make them a little thicker. I do dye my hair darker than my natural colour, so this helps my brows stand out against my hair as well.

As I said in the beginning I use Anastasia Beverly Hills products so I will be using the DipBrow Pomade in the shades Medium Brown and Soft Brown. I will also be using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Brush #12, which is my favourite brow brush.

Step 1

IMG_6508

First I’ll take my spoolie and brush the hairs into their natural places, so I can see exactly where to fill. I actually begin with the tail of my brow using the darker of my 2 shades, Medium Brown. I will create a ‘hard’ line to outline the outer tail of my brow and then feather in about half my brow. I will use light, short strokes when filling in so it looks natural and be a little firmer when creating the outside line so it looks defined. Just guess how far to take the darker shade if you’re using 2 like I am and you can always touch up later.

IMG_6509

Step 2

Now I’m going to take the shade Soft Brown and start sculpting the inner half of my brows. To begin I will create a ‘hard’ line right at the front of my brows going back in the direction of the tail. I place this line slightly higher than the lowest hair in the front, because I find if I line it up with the lowest hair it makes my brows curve down the front, kind of a unibrow effect.

IMG_6512

I will then do the exact same thing along the top of my brow connecting the line with where I stopped the Medium Brown.

IMG_6513

Step 3

I will then fill in all the ’empty’ space with Soft Brown. I will use soft strokes mimicking hairs. The brush I’m using is the perfect size so if I just need to fill in all over, I’ll turn it sideways and fill in that way.

IMG_6514

Step 4

Now all that’s left is the very front. For this I will use the brush vertically with a very light hand and run the product through the front. I will usually leave a few hairs at the very front with no product just to make the brows look natural. Plus like I said my brow hairs at the front are wonky, so filling in right to the end just doesn’t look right. You can now use the spoolie to blend out the product if you feel it’s necessary. At this point I will often touch up with Medium Brown and deepen my arch a little.

IMG_6515

If you need you can set your brows with brow gel at this stage. The dipbrow lasts on me all day so I usually don’t bother.

Here is the finished brow! Soft, yet defined. I’m not really into the carved out brow look on my face.

IMG_6567

And of course your brows are sisters not twins so some days they just will not look the same. We all have uncooperative brow days. I swear some days my brows are distant cousins not sisters.

So there you have it, there is my current brow routine! What brow products do you love? Leave them in the comments below!

Bye for now!

Best of: Coral and Peach

Hi Everyone!

I don’t know about you guys but the last few days have just felt like spring to me and I’m loving it. With spring on it’s way, I’m ready for colour. So there’s my inspiration for this series. Two colours that I love all year around, but especially for spring are coral and peach. I’ve noticed that coral especially is huge for spring 2015 in fashion, so this is perfect timing for this series. I’m sure this isn’t my original idea, but whoever started it, I’m rolling with it.

Coral

I’ll start with coral, since I have fewer products in this colour.

Gerard Cosmetics Coral Craze Lip Gloss

IMG_6470 IMG_6471

The first product for the colour coral is the Gerard Cosmetics Lip Gloss in Coral Craze. Now I’ll admit that I HATE these glosses on top of a lipstick. They are a very thick consistency and just look gloopy on top of a lipstick. However, if you just put this on your lips alone it’s pigmented enough to give you a beautiful coral flush and it won’t look gloopy. I got this lip gloss at the end of spring/summer so I haven’t worn it loads but I’m excited to wear it this spring.

Essence Silky Touch Blush- Life’s a Cherry

IMG_6475IMG_6472

I couldn’t talk about the colour coral and not include this. The Essence Blush in Life’s A Cherry is a bright, hot coral shade that brings a flush to your cheeks. This blush is around $3 and the pigmentation is impeccable. You actually need a light hand with this because of it’s pigmentation. For a $3 blush I think that’s pretty impressive. This shade does look intimidating in the pan, but with a light dusting it’s the perfect blush to wake up your complexion. If you’re looking for inexpensive ways to incorporate coral, I highly recommend this.

Annabelle Lip Liner- Coral

IMG_6474

IMG_6473

The second coral lip product I want to include is the Annabelle Lip Liner in Coral. This is a medium coral shade that is perfect all over the lips for a coral pop. It’s creamy enough to use all over the lips and it won’t drag, so that’s a bonus. These lip liners are also an inexpensive way to add in some coral, although my store is always low on these lip liners.

NYX Butter Lipstick- Candy Buttons

IMG_6476 IMG_6477

The last product for coral is NYX Butter Lipstick in Candy Buttons. This is a light coral with a glossy finish. These lipsticks are super affordable and are ridiculously smooth. I would recommend exfoliating your lips prior to wearing this because I find the smooth formula can really accentuate dry or uneven lips.

Peach

Now moving on to peach, a personal favourite of mine year-round.

Milani Baked Blush- Luminoso

IMG_6467

We can’t talk about amazing peach products without mentioning Luminoso. I can 100% say that this is not overhyped. It’s so beautiful and one of my favourite blushes of all time. It does have some shimmer, but it just creates a dewy sort of look on the skin. It makes your skin look flushed and smooth. Definitely a peach product everyone should try.

Lorac Pro Palette 2- Nectar

IMG_6468 IMG_6469

The next peach product I want to mention is definitely on the neutral side of peach, a peach-beige shade. This shade is the perfect transition and blending shade on my skin tone. It makes everything look seamless without being obvious. It’s also great to add warmth but not be too warm. If you’re trying to find a transition shade for a cooler eye look, this is a great place to start.

MAC Blush- Peaches

IMG_6461

I seriously have a love affair with MAC blushes. I don’t know if it’s because I built the palette myself or what, but I often have to wean myself off the MAC blushes to use something else in my collection. Peaches is one shade I love because it looks so fresh and healthy. It is a true peach shade, but not orange.

MAC Blush- Melba

IMG_6463

If we’re talking peach, then I have to mention Melba. Melba is the more neutral sister of Peaches, with more brown in it and a little more depth. This is perfect when you want peach on your cheeks to warm up your face, but you also don’t want it to compete with another area of your face.

MAC Lipstick- Shanghai Spice

IMG_6479 IMG_6480

My last peach favourite is also from MAC (they are seriously killing it with the peach options). Shanghai Spice is a warm peachy pink shade that looks is neutral enough to go with a darker eye look but also the perfect depth for every day. I like this day to day rather than a pink or a nude.

I do have a couple of honorable mentions for this as well, great peach and coral products that I need to wear more often!:

MAC Springsheen Blush

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick- Coral Blossom

So there you have it! I don’t know about you, but I know I’ll be wearing peach and coral out this spring! What shade do you want to see next in this series? Leave me a comment below!

My Journey to Better Skin: Clarisonic Mia: Pre-Use

Hi Everyone!

So recently I just cannot get my skin under control. My skin just looks tired and rough. I do have a skincare routine that I follow regularly, but recently it just hasn’t been enough. So I decided to take action and purchase a Clarisonic. It might seem extreme to some but my mindset is that although my skin is not horrendous or anything, if this works for me it will benefit my skin in the long run. I’m trying to take good care of my skin now and I will hopefully reap the benefits later on. Since I do wear a fair amount of makeup when I wear makeup, I do want to make sure that I’m getting my face nice and clean. I decided to just purchase the regular MIa as I think that suits my needs and I didn’t need any of the additional features offered with the other models. The only difference between this and the Mia 2 is 1 speed setting and a timer to guide your cleansing. I would likely ignore the timer anyway, so I opted to get the original Mia.

Here is the original MIa plugged in charging for 24 hours before I use it. It charges magnetically since it’s fully waterproof so that’s pretty neat. I chose Lavender, there weren’t tons of colour options and this was better than white or grey. Plus lavender is springy which my mind is all about right now. I didn’t purchase a different brush head as it comes with the sensitive and I’m going to see how that works for me before I buy anything else.

IMG_6483IMG_6481IMG_6482

My skin

I’m just going to give you a little background on my skin to explain why I got this. I have never suffered from acne, not as a teenager or anything so that’s not the issue I’m trying to target with this. Instead of acne I get texture, it can be little white bumps that have nothing in them or red bumps, also with nothing in them. It’s just like raised skin essentially. I did seem to get rid of this for a while just by switching from a night cream to a night oil, but it’s back again and I don’t know why. It always seems to show up on my cheeks, although I will occasionally get a pimple every so often it’s not all that common for me. The problem is that you can’t cover up texture. You can cover the redness of a pimple, but nothing can hide something raised on your skin. So when I have this, whatever it is, and I put makeup on it’s accentuated and it drives me insane.

Other than the mystery bumps, my skin is normal-dry. I usually don’t have dry patches provided I use my night oil religiously, but lately I’ve had a little bit of dryness anyway, but I think that may have been more of an allergic reaction to a hair-removal cream I tried that my skin hates. My skin can be sensitive at times as well, but provided I don’t do anything crazy that’s pretty much in check.

Anyway. I haven’t used the Clarisonic yet because it needs to charge for 24 hours before 1st use, so today’s post is just going to be my back story and my skin before picture. I will then check in every so often to see how this is working or not working.

Before Pictures

Not exactly flattering, but I just wanted to get close up so that later we can see if there actually is a difference. I pondered on and off for so long about purchasing this so I’m really hopeful that it will work for me.

IMG_6451 IMG_6456IMG_6454

So there you have it. Finger’s crossed for me! Leave your thoughts on the Clarisonic down below!

Firmoo Online Optical Store Review* and Makeup Tips For Glasses

Hi Everyone!

I have a bit of a different review for you today. Some of you may or may not know that I have been a glasses wearer for 15 years, so when I was contacted by Firmoo and invited to try out a pair of their glasses I was excited! Any glasses wearer knows that the process of getting glasses can be tedious and is almost always expensive. So when I saw the prices that Firmoo offers ($30-$50) I’ll admit I was skeptical. Could they really make decent glasses and offer them at more than decent prices? I decided to accept their offer and see for myself. Today I’m going to share my experience using the Firmoo website, the quality of the glasses and who I think should try this site out. i will also include some tips for makeup for glasses, as wearing glasses is always an extra challenge. These glasses were sent to me BUT I would never recommend something to you that I wouldn’t personally buy or recommend to any of my friends. So that’s more than enough blabbering and I’ll get to it.

The Site

Okay so Firmoo offers a HUGE range of glasses. Although there was a smaller selction for me to pick from, I still felt very overwhelmed at first with all the options. To help you decide, they allow you to upload a picture to see what you’ll look like in those particular frames. Although this concept is a good idea, if you don’t upload the ideal picture it just looks very distorted on your face. Some of the glasses just look gigantic in the picture I chose. I would play around with different pictures to find one that looks proportionate if you’re planning on using this feature. After years of wearing glasses I know what shape suits my face, so I kind of had a starting point but if you’ve never worn glasses, I think that might be a challenge. You can always go into a store just to browse to see what you like. You can also browse frames by shape on the site4 so if you know what shape you like like I did, this makes looking for frames super easy!

Here’s a couple pictures to show what I mean about the picture feature. The first picture is a picture that doesn’t work with this feature, and the second is slightly better.

Screen Shot 2015-03-11 at 1.17.01 AM Screen Shot 2015-03-11 at 1.17.09 AM

These are not what I chose in case you’re wondering.

In order to order and use this site for prescription glasses, you will need your full prescription information of course, including your PD (pulpillary distance) and the strength. I wear contacts most of the time and those didn’t have all the information I needed, which meant I needed to get ahold of my full prescription. When I called the place where I got my last pair of glasses they wanted to charge me $70 just to give me my PD. I nearly choked at that. Seriously? I wasn’t going to pay that, so I called my eye doctor and they emailed me my full prescription with no issues. You can measure your own PD if needed, and there’s tons of instructions online to do so. I also have astigmatism so I did need the full prescription anyway. This hiccup might pose a challenge for some, so I wanted to note it. Firmoo makes it super easy to get prescription glasses, as you can enter your prescription details or upload your prescription and they will take care of the details. They offer non-prescription glasses as well.

After the initial shock of all the options, I found their site to be very easy to work with. I received my glasses exactly 1 week after I placed my order, but I did notice that they included express shipping so I’m not sure how fast they would be for other shipping options.

The Glasses

IMG_6428

IMG_6431IMG_6430

IMG_6443 IMG_6447

Like I said, I was a bit skeptical on how these would be when I received them. The glasses came with a nice case, a really good cleaning cloth and a little key chain screwdriver. The screwdriver is a nice touch, I have had screws come loose in my glasses before and being able to fix it myself would have been way easier.

Since I’ve been wearing glasses for so long, I wouldn’t consider myself super gentle with my glasses anymore. So these were put through several days of my normal wearing patterns. I pretty much wear my glasses most weekends since I work from home and pretty much look like a bum Friday-Monday. So these have been well-tested by me.  The frames I chose have metal arms, whereas my other pair of glasses are all plastic, so these are actually better quality then what I had. I wanted something not too out there when I chose, but with something interesting, so the shape and pattern of the arms are what attracted me to this pair. I was skeptical at first like I said but after wearing these constantly they are really good quality.

In total the pair that I chose would have cost $65 including the expressing shipping. Without shipping, $53 including lenses. Considering glasses can be hundreds of dollars, this is a steal.

The one downside to ordering online is that you’re not able to get adjustments if needed. I’m not sure if you took these to an eye place if they would adjust them, maybe not if you didn’t buy them there. The pair I chose luckily did not need any adjusting on me, but it would have been a pain if they did. Just important to note I think.

Who should try this?

Occasional glasses wearers– if you only need glasses some of the time this is perfect because they are so inexpensive.

People without benefits or health coverage– This is a great way to get good glasses and not break the bank.

People who are looking for something trendy- If you’re just looking to pick up a trendy pair this is an awesome site because you’re not investing a ton of money in something that will likely go out of style (remember when huge nerd glasses made their comeback? Ya that’s what I mean)

So overall I’m very happy with the service I received from Firmoo and the glasses, they exceeded my expectations. You can purchase your own pair at http://www.firmoo.com and they are currently offering 50% off your first pair of frames (not the lenses), if you use this link http://www.firmoo.com/z/new-50-off.html.

So lastly I’ll leave a couple of tips I’ve picked up on wearing makeup with glasses.

Tips

1. Focus on brightening and opening up the eyes. When you wear glasses the focus is already drawn to the eyes, so really play them up. Use a skin tone pencil in your waterline and light shadows to make your eyes look super open. If you use colours that play up your eye colour it’s even better to enhance the attention that’s going to be on your eyes. You can of course wear whatever you want, but this is my favourite kind of look with glasses.

2. Curl your lashes! It helps to open up your eyes, but it also makes sure that you won’t end up with mascara dots all over your glasses, which is beyond irritating.

3. Brows are key! I cannot stress enough how important your brows are for makeup with glasses. When I didn’t fill on my brows, the straight edge of the frames exaggerated the unevenness of my brows. It wasn’t that noticeable without glasses, add glasses and you look lopsided. Fill them in to even them out, they frame your face and it really does look better with glasses.

4. Get a close-up mirror. This last tip is for the blindest of blind. I can’t see anything without glasses or contacts so if I’m going to do my makeup without contacts in I can’t see without a close up mirror. It seriously makes your life so much easier in general, but especially if you’re visually challenged like me.

So there you have it, leave your tips for wearing makeup with glasses down below!

Bought it, Forgot it: March 2015

Hi Everyone!

I have been on a no-buy for the last little while and that means it’s the perfect time to shop my stash for stuff I just haven’t been reaching for. When I find myself getting bored, it’s almost like my makeup drawers need a good shake to remind me of some of the stuff I have and just haven’t used. So that’s what we’re doing today. I’ve went through my collection and picked out some items that have been left out for a little while and I’m going to keep them out to remind myself to use them over the course of March. I recently did do a purge and gave some stuff that I knew I wouldn’t use to my friends so this is stuff that I can’t part with, but still am not using. It’s all good stuff and I hope that I fall back in love with this stuff in March.

NYX Studio Liquid Liner

The first product that has been slightly neglected is the NYX Studio Liquid Liner. I was obsessed with this about a year ago, but since getting comfortable with gel liner, I haven’t picked this up. It’s super black and has a super fine brush tip, i just need to reacquaint myself with liquid liner over gel. Hopefully I can master winged liner with this because I almost never wear liner without a wing since I have rounder eyes and winged liner is much more flattering.

L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow- Bronzed Taupe

This shadow is beautiful and I loved it when I had a pair of blue coloured contacts in the summer and early fall, but since then I just haven’t seemed interested in this. It still looks nice on my hazel eyes so I would like to bring this out again. It’s slightly cooler toned which also might be why I haven’t worn it since I love warm shades. These shadows are great quality so there’s really no reason for this to be shoved in the back of a drawer.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

Okay so this one I’m really not sure I can make myself love. I literally have not picked this up to use in a look since my 21st birthday dinner which was nearly 9 months ago. This was the first Naked Palette I bought and the one that drew me in the most and I just never use this. There is nothing wrong with the quality of the shadows, but I think the tone of the shadows is why I don’t ever use this. I’m so pale that a lot of these shades can look pretty smokey and dark on me and since they’re cool toned it comes across pretty dramatic for daytime. I am really going to work to find a way to make this work for me. Before adding this to regrets, I’m going to give this a shot.

NYX Butter Glosses

I was looking through my lip gloss tray and I came across these NYX lip glosses which prompted me to include them in this post. I haven’t been wearing lip gloss at all lately, not just these so it’s kind of a reminder to wear gloss in general. I picked this brand because these are great glosses that aren’t sticky or too thick. If I’m going to wear a gloss, then these are probably what I would most likely wear.

Nars Blush- Orgasm

And we’ve come to another product that I’m giving one last shot. This is the infamous Orgasm Blush. I bought this purely due to all the hype and at this point it really isn’t living up to it. I’m hoping that making a point to use this will help me see what all the hype is about because right now it’s just a gritty, overly shimmery blush that I never use.

Too Faced Lip Injection Color Bomb- Bee Sting

The next product was actually part of the Too Faced Holiday 2013 collection. The shade was limited edition but the product can be bought separately. I wore this so much when I first got it, when I had very little lip options. I retried this on today and I like the shade so I’m going to try and start using this again.

Nars Virtual Domination Cheek Palette

The last item that I want to use more is the newest out of all of this month’s items. I got this around Christmas and I was really impressed by the quality of these blushes. I actually have no idea why I don’t reach for this, so hopefully I will rediscover it this month.

So there you have it, that’s all my products for the month. Wish me luck! Let me know in the comments below what products you love but are neglecting. I will be checking in at the end of the month to let you all know how it went!

Bye for now,
