Soft Eyes and Bold Lips for Spring

Hey Everyone!
IMG_0531

I have a new tutorial for you today! If you saw my last couple FOTDs then you would know that I’ve been loving bold lips with lighter eye makeup. Even though I am aiming this for spring, it would be good for all seasons and goes with any lip colour whether that be bright or even something dark. I think bold lips are a great way to look pulled together quickly, plus a great way to take a look from day to night. Having acquired some bright lipsticks over the last couple months, I’m pretty much dying to use them, so here it is!

Face

Image

Since my ‘base’ is basically the same in every tutorial, I went ahead and did my foundation, concealer and brows ahead of time and I will list what I used.

Products

Simple Light Moisturizer

Maybelline Baby Skin Primer

NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray

L’Oreal True Match Foundation in N1 Soft Ivory

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Concealer in Ultra Light

Bare Minerals Concealer in Bisque

Brows

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Whiz in Soft Brown

ELF Clear Brow Mascara

Bronzer, Blush and Highlight

IMG_0432

Once the base was done, I contoured with Nars Bronzing Powder in Casino and then blended my life away basically. This isn’t the most blendable bronzer I’ve ever tried, but I love the colour so it’s worth it. For blush I decided to go with something that would give a natural glow, but not compete with the bold lip I’m going to wear. I chose Physician’s Formula Happy Booster Blush in Natural. It gives the appearance of a natural flush and glow, but nothing too bright. The camera really doesn’t do the pretty glow this gives any justice. After that I added my highlight which was the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle (not pictured). Finally for the last face step, I set everything with NYX Dewy Finish setting spray to hold it in place.

Eyes

For the eyes I will be using the Urban Decay Naked Palette. I chose this because the shades in it are PERFECT for a neutral eye. Plus if you don’t have the Naked Palette, I’m positive you can find similar shades to replicate this look. You could easily pick one light shade from this palette, sweep it on the lid with some liner and that would be a super quick way to achieve this style of look. For today’s look I chose to give the eyes a little more definition.

To start, I primed my eyes with Urban Decay Primer potion. To begin defining my eyes I started in the crease. Using a fluffy crease brush I mixed Naked and Buck together and using a windshield wiper motion blended it into the crease. For my skin tone these shades give great definition to my eyes without being too dark.

Naked and Buck

Next I moved onto the lid and picked up Sin using a flat shader brush. I then placed this on the whole lid.

Sin

Next using the same flat shader brush I picked up Sidecar and placed it directly over sin.

sidecar

Going back to the original 2 shades, Naked and Buck, I mixed these again with a crease brush and placed it above the crease as a transition shade.

To deepen the look slightly, I then picked up Smog and placed it in the outer V and then blended everything out.

smog

For the lower lashline, I started by mixing Buck and Naked and smudging it in. This didn’t give me the definition I was looking for so I added Smog and Darkhorse to the outer half of the lower lashline for some depth.

lashline

For the inner half, I used Sin. I then added Virgin as my brow bone highlight and lined my upper lashline with black Cream Eyeliner from ELF. I did make a slight wing to draw my eyes out a little, but you could of course keep it simple and just line your lashline.

sin,virgin

Lastly I added 2 coats of mascara, which was of course Benefit’s They’re Real.

This is the finished eye look:

IMG_0458

At this point, you could easily throw on some lip gloss or a neutral lipstick and have an awesome day time look. But for this look, I’m going a little bolder.

Before wearing a bold lip, make sure your lips are well moisturized and exfoliated. If you don’t have a lip scrub, just mix brown sugar and honey and scrub until your lips are smooth.

If you have a lip liner that goes with the colour you pick, it does make wearing bold lips easier. I didn’t have one, so I applied the lipstick and touched up with a Q-Tip to clean up the edges.

This eye look goes with tons of lip colours, so I’m going to show you some of the shades I pair it with.

IMG_0461

The first shade I wanted to show is Maybelline The Vivids Lipstick in Hot Plum. This goes really well with the Radiant orchid trend of the season and is a great stepping stone for people who want to expand slightly out of the pink realm, since this is pinky-purple.

The next shade is a shade that I own nothing else like because it’s orange. Orange is super popular this season and after finding a shade that compliments me, I absolutely love it.

IMG_0471

I think this shade works because it has a slight pinky-coral undertone, so it’s not straight up orange. I didn’t want a really warm orange because I was afraid it would make my teeth look yellow. This is Maybelline Color Sensational The Vivids in Vibrant Mandarine.

The last shade I have been pairing with this look is a bright hot pink. I was pretty done with nice faces at this point, so that explains the next picture. My serious faces have a limit haha.

IMG_0529

The last lip colour is the Milani Lip Intense in Pink Rave.

With a simple eye look like this, the possibilities are endless. I know I will be wearing this look for a long time to come even in the winter with dark berry or red lips.

Let me know what you think of the bold lips trend in the comments below, or if there are any shades I should try, let me know! I’m always on the hunt for more bright lippies.

Bye for now!

Sweet and Sultry: A Chocolate Bar Makeup Tutorial

Hey Everyone!

I’m back today with a Chocolate Bar Palette tutorial! This palette has become incredibly popular so I figured why not do a look with it? I have been loving it, it is so versatile and the colours are stunning. If you’d like to see my full review of this palette, click here!

The Face

I started with a clean, makeup free face.

IMG_0242

The first step is to prime your face. This will make your makeup stay put all day. You can use whatever primer suits your skin needs (matifying, oil control, redness minimizing etc.), but I used a combination of 2 ELF Mineral Primers, one to brighten and one to control redness. I just rubbed this all over my face until it was blended in.

After priming, it was time for foundation. I used my favourite foundation for this look, L’Oreal True Match in the shade N1. I dotted it all over my face and then pressed it into my skin using the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. If you press rather than rub with this sponge, you’ll get better coverage. I always start with less foundation and build up if needed to avoid the dreaded cake-face. You can always add more, but add too much and look out! After completing those 2 steps you should end up with an even complexion.

IMG_0247

Next step is concealer. I find that foundation alone can make any dark circles look exaggerated, so concealer helps to wake up the face a bit. For this step I used Mac Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20. I took this concealer and patted it from inner corner to outer corner of my eye and took it downwards slightly to create a triangle shape. Once the concealer was in place I blended it into place with the RT Sponge. Since this concealer has a sticky consistency, this damp sponge really helps to blend it without picking up too much product. To set my concealer I used Bare Minerals Concealer in Bisque. This adds a little coverage while securing the Pro Longwear so it’ll last a long time.

Brows

After my base was finished it was time to fill in the brows. I like to keep the shape of my brows pretty close to my natural shape, except for raising the arch of one brow slightly. To achieve my natural brow look, I outlined the shape with the Anastasia Brow Whiz in Soft Brown and then filled in any gaps with the ELF Brow Kit in Medium. I’ll admit that doing my brows can be tedious because I’m picky, but I always try to remind myself that eyebrows are sisters not twins, so if they’re not exactly the same it’s okay. There are definitely good brow days and not so good brow days. Lastly, I set them with some clear brow gel from ELF.

Bronzer and Blush

Once I fiddled with my brows enough, I moved onto bronzer. For this look I used Nars Bronzer in Casino. This is a lot warmer than anything else I have, but not orange in the least. With my ELF Bronzing Brush I placed Casino under my cheekbones and along the sides of my face. To further define my face, I also put this under my jawline and lightly onto my neck with a fluffy kabuki. The last place I contoured is under my bottom lip. If you take a pointed eyeshadow brush (I use an inner corner shader) and draw a line under your bottom lip with bronzer and then lightly rub it out to blur it a bit, your lips will look fuller. After you’ve got it all placed, it’s so important to blend. The Nars bronzer I used isn’t the easiest to blend and it is dark, so it takes quite a bit of work. You want to keep blending until you have no more obvious lines. What I find especially helpful is to pick the RT Sponge back up again and go over the bronzer to help blend it. There will be a little foundation or concealer left in the sponge which helps with blending it all in.

Once the bronzer is blended to your liking, it’s time for blush. This step is essential for me because I look so lifeless without it. It really brings a glow back to your face that foundation can cancel out. For this look I used the ELF Studio Blush in Pink Passion. This looks super bright in the pan, but on it comes out as a natural flush.

IMG_0267

To add the glow that I love so much, I used the Stila All Over Shimmer Duo in Kitten. I took the darker side and lightly dusted it over my blush to add some shimmer that this blush doesn’t have. With a fan brush, I then took the lighter side and dusted it on top of my cheekbones, down my nose and onto my temples. Using my finger I also pressed some onto my cupid’s bow to once again, enhance my lips.

To finish off the face portion of this look, I set my face with the NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray. This really enhances the highlight and makes everything stay put!

Eyes

Now onto the “sweetest” part of this tutorial (oh the bad puns I can make using this palette). I’m going to be using the Chocolate Bar Palette for this portion of the look.

To begin, I primed my eyes with Urban Decay Primer Potion to help the shadows stick.

I’m going to start with the shade Champagne Truffle.

DSC_0549

I placed this shade onto the inner 1/3 of my eye as well as in the inner corner and onto the inner 1/3 0f the bottom lash line. This shade has a slight purple-ish undertone, which goes well with the burgundy-plum shade we’ll be using later on. I also used this as a brow highlight.

Next, I applied a transition shade and for this I used Salted Caramel, a warm brown.

DSC_0549

I placed this colour right above the crease using a swiping motion back and forth. It’s important not to put this too high as it won’t look blended with the crease shades.

Next, I focused on the centre of the lid. For this I used a matte light-medium brown called Milk Chocolate.

DSC_0549

Starting from where Champagne Truffle ends, I placed Milk Chocolate in the centre third of the lid, leaving the last 1/3 of the eye bare. I ran my brush over the joining line to blend, but I didn’t go over the champagne colour.

Now onto the last third of the eye. For this, I picked up the colour Cherry Cordial, a burgundy shade.

DSC_0549

With a flat shader brush I patted this colour onto the outer 1/3 of my eye to fill in the gap that isn’t filled by brown or the champagne colours. I then dipped the edge of the brush into the colour and ran it along the edge of the colour to round it out and make it a little more polished. I did not take this colour into the crease, just kept it on the outer 3rd.

Now that the 3 sections are pretty defined, I went back to the middle 3rd and pick up the colour Creme Brulee, which is an iridescent gold.

DSC_0549

I placed this shade directly on top of Milk Chocolate, the shade in the middle. This draws attention to the centre of the eye.

It should look something like this:

IMG_0278

After all the colour is placed on the lid, I started to focus on the crease. For the crease I mixed Cherry Cordial, the burgundy shade from before as well as Amaretto a bronzey-brown shade.

DSC_0549

Using a fluffier crease brush, I dipped my brush into both colours and then put them into the crease using a back and forth swiping motion. Using a blending brush, I then blended around all the edges to buff out all the harsh lines and to blend all the shades together. Using a smudge brush I picked up Cherry Cordial and Amaretto and put them on the outer 3rd of the lower lashline. There should now be a gap right in the centre of the lashline separating Champagne Truffle and the outer colour. I filled that in with Milk Chocolate, the lid colour I already used.

To finish off the eye look, I added ELF Studio Cream Eyeliner in Coffee, just along the lashline. With the shades in this look, I thought the brown would compliment nicely, without being too dramatic. I didn’t want to take away from the lid colours. You could of course use black as well or mix black and brown to deepen it.

Here’s the look with the liner:

IMG_0284

Next, I curled my lashes and added Benefit They’re Real mascara.

Here’s a better look at the eyes:

IMG_0298

IMG_0288

Lips

The final touch is the lips. I wanted something neutral in tone, so that it wouldn’t compete with all the shimmer on the eyes. I used the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Elusive, a dusty rose shade. There are many shades that would work with this look, so the options are open.

IMG_0289

Here is the finished look:

IMG_0302

IMG_0303

There is the finished look! I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know in the comments how you’re using the Chocolate Bar Palette, I would love to check out other tutorials! 🙂

Bye for Now!

Getting Glam For Prom: Bronze Goddess

Hey Everyone!

I’m back with a long awaited tutorial! I have been wanting to do this series for ages, but with mountains of schoolwork something this intensive wasn’t exactly ideal. But I am officially done my exams as of today so be prepared to see a lot more activity on this page! Today’s tutorial is my first prom makeup look. It’s a glam yet sophisticated bronzey smokey eye that would suit any eye colour and tons of dress colours. It’s been awhile since I went to prom and I wasn’t as into makeup then so I didn’t do my own. If I could do it over with the makeup knowledge I have now, I think it would be fun to do it myself. I actually went to prom twice, once when I was 15 and then again at 17, so I got the full prom experience you could say. I had my makeup and hair done both times and it was definitely fun to get all glammed up for the day! I hope that this tutorial inspires you for your prom or any other special occasion. I also have some tips to make sure your prom is awesome 🙂

First off I’ll say, that this is not a no-make-up make-up look. It’s prom, so glam is completely acceptable. This look is still natural in tone, so it won’t look overdone.

Pre-Prom

In the weeks leading up to prom there are a few things that you can do to ensure a good make-up day on the day of prom. Number one: if you are testing out any new products for prom day, test them out well in advance. You don’t want to break-out or react on the day of because that’s just not a fun time for anyone. This includes makeup and skincare products. Make sure you are taking great care of your skin (all the time) but especially around prom. Find a routine ahead of time if you don’t already have one and stick with it. As well, if you’re doing your own makeup, practice ahead of time! Know what look you’d like to create, and practice it well-ahead of prom. If you try it the day of and it doesn’t turn out, it could really ruin your day. If doing your own makeup is too stressful, then don’t feel guilty about getting someone else to do it, it is a total glamour day after all. Do what you’re comfortable with.

Face

To start you’ll want clean moisturized skin. Once that’s done it’s time to prime. You should try and find a primer that works with your skin needs. For example, a green tone correcting primer for redness or an oil control primer for people with oily skin types. I’m using my usual, which is a combination of 2 ELF Mineral Face Primers, one for tone correcting (green) and one to brighten (purple).

I pump a small bit on the back of my hand and then dot it all over my face. I press it into my skin until it’s all absorbed and I can’t see any purple or green left on my face.

The next step after priming is foundation. For any event with lots of pictures it’s best to pick a foundation with low or no SPF, as it can cause white cast in pictures. I chose Revlon Colorstay as the base for this look because it only has an SPF of 6. I think your skin is the most important part of any makeup look, but especially for prom. For this look I’m going for luminous, glowy skin, so I mixed an illuminator into my foundation to add a little extra to my skin. I used the Revlon Photoready Skinlights in Bare Light, as it is sort of bronzey and goes well with this look. I just put a little on the back of my hand and then dotted it on my face, just like I did with the primer.

After dotting it on my face, I used a damp Real Techniques sponge to press it into my skin. By pressing the sponge, it gives more coverage as opposed to using the sponge to swipe the foundation over your skin. Depending how much coverage you need or what, the method is up to you. I used to sponge because it adds to the dewy look I’m going for. I kept pressing and slightly swiping until it was all blended up to my hairline and down my neck. Blending down your neck is an important step, especially with a lower neckline dress, so that you don’t get any harsh lines. If you’re unsure about matching your foundation, go to a makeup counter and ask them to match you.

After you’re happy with the foundation, it’s time for concealer. I used the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer to cover some dark circles and to cover a couple of blemishes. this concealer isn’t super heavy, so it doesn’t get cakey using a little more. I then used the pointed end of the RT sponge to blend it out.

This does conceal, but it doesn’t really brighten on me, it doesn’t come light enough, so I figured out my own method to brighten. To brighten I used the NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk to highlight and brighten. For anyone with darker skin than me, this may be too light and you could use a lighter concealer instead, but it works perfect for me. I lightly drew it under my eyes, down my noses, on my forehead and cupid’s bow. I later added it to my browbones as well. Since it has a waxy consistency, it’s best to blend with your fingers. I then used Bare Minerals Concealer in Bisque on a fluffy kabuki to set my undereye area to make sure it stays put.

Once that is all blended out, it’s time for brows. I keep my brow routine very simple, using a small angled brush to fill in gaps and even them out. I use the ELF Brow Kit in Medium and only the wax side. You can see in the picture below what they look like all filled in. Brows are essential for prom, as you’ll be taking lots of pictures and your brows help to frame your face.

To contour I’m going to use the ELF Contouring Bronzer in St. Lucia and an ELF Bronzing Brush and apply bronzer to my cheekbones, around the edges of my face and under my jawline. I also contoured under my bottom lip and my nose. Contouring is really important to add definition to your face along with colour. The most important step with bronzer is to blend, blend, blend so you have no harsh lines and it looks natural. Bronzer used right makes you look healthy and glowy. The picture below is the contouring before I blended it out.

]

Next is blush. I used the blush from the other half of St Lucia duo. It’s a slightly shimmery peach and it adds glow and warmth to the face. For prom I wanted a healthy flushed look to the cheeks, but nothing too harsh. If by accident your blush or bronzer is too harsh, just run the RT sponge over it to soften it.

The second last face step is to highlight. I used Benefit High Beam on the tops of my cheekbones and down the centre of my face applied with an ELF Blush Brush. It adds a subtle glow that really pops in pictures. It’s important to build this up slowly or risk looking like a disco ball.

Lastly, it’s time to set your makeup. This is really important to make sure that you look flawless all night long. I used both a setting powder and a setting spray. This is especially important for people with oily skin, so that your makeup doesn’t slide all over your face. The setting powder is the ELF HD powder which not only has awesome setting power, but it’s great for photos as well. I then added the NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray to set and to add a dewy look to the skin.

Here is the finished face portion. You can see that it still looks really natural and not overdone.

IMG_0075

Eyes

Finally, we’ve made it to the eyes. Firstly, prime your eyes with whatever primer you like to prevent creasing. I used Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin, as that’s what I had on hand. I then added tape to the corners of my eyes, so that I would end up with a strong edge. Doing this quick step really adds polish to any eye look. To achieve a bronzey look, I’m first going to use the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze. This is super pigmented and very long lasting so it’s perfect for prom, you won’t need to worry about it moving or fading. On a flat shader type brush, I put this all over the lid and slightly up into the crease. Once it was all over the lid, used a blending brush to even up the edges. It’s okay if it’s not perfect because there’s alot more blending to come.

.

Next, I’ll use the ELF Endless Eyes Palette in Natural for my transition shade, my first crease shade and my brow highlight.  I used the 3rd shadow in the top row as a transition shade, just above the crease, where the color tattoo ended. The 2nd shade in the bottom row was used to darken up the crease and the outer v.

DSC_0390

That really wasn’t dark enough, so I looked for some darker browns. I used browns out of my Too Faced A Few of my Favorite Things Palette, but any browns will do. I know this is limited edition, but there are tons of colours like the ones I chose, I just didn’t have anything else. To really smoke out the crease I mixed Dark Chocolate and Woolen Mittens. After I got that all blended out, I removed the tape and used the same combination on a smudge brush for the outer half of the lower lashline. In the inner half I just used Woolen Mittens by itself. I then blended the edges where the tape was to soften it slightly.

IMG_0083

To add to the smokey effect of this look, I took the NYX Retractable Eyeliner in Black and drew closely along my lashline winging slightly upwards and then smudged it with a smudge brush. To amp up the bronze I then took a NYX Eyeliner in Golden Bronze and drew over where the black was and smudged that out as well. I took the same liner in my waterline and to the outer 3rd of my lower lashline. Using this in my waterline really makes the green in my eyes pop and would suit many other eye colours.

To finish the eye look off, I added one coat of Benefit They’re Real mascara.

If this is enough for you, you could stop right there and end up with this:

IMG_0095

But since it’s prom, I use it as an excuse to be glam. So if you want to wear false eyelashes, here’s your chance. The pair I used are just a cheap pair from ELF that I cut down slightly to fit my eye. They are quite dramatic for my taste, but you get an idea at least.

Lips

You have lots of options for lip colours, but I would go with something light that won’t compete with the eye look.

First option is a coral lip (Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Coral Blossom with NYX Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel over top)

OR:

ELF Matte Lip Color in Nearly Nude

Here’s the finished look!

I hope that you enjoyed this prom look! Let me know in the comments below what you’ll be wearing to prom 🙂

Bye for now!

Getting “Naked” for the 3rd Time: Urban Decay Does it Again

Hey Everyone!

I’m back with a brand new review! If you didn’t get it from the title, I recently got the Naked 3 Palette by Urban Decay and I have been testing it out to do a complete, 100% honest review. So here goes nothing!

I’ll admit when I first saw this palette, I swore I would never buy it. Ever. And my sister is my witness. I actually pointed it out In Sephora as something completely not my style. Well, now don’t I look like a liar? At first glance, the shades looked similar and I thought it looked plain. Not original, I thought. Well, spoiler, but I got sucked in. Youtube made me buy it for sure. After looking at it more in depth and looking at reviews, my opinion changed. Despite wearing purple and pink eyeshadow for years straight (Literally every day for years- it was bad) I had none of those shades in my collection anymore. I suppose when I got over that phase, those shades got phased out. So I had nothing like this. If it had been another traditional neutrals palette I can’t say I would have picked it up because I have lots of those shades, but this is different, so I guess that’s what sold me.

About the Palette

The palette has 12 eyeshadows all in the pink, rose type range. 3 are matte and the rest are shimmer or satin. The palette also includes a dual ended brush and 4 trial size pods of each of Urban Decay’s Prime Potions.

The Brush

Usually the brush or applicator that comes in palettes is complete crap. I usually throw it out immediately because a little foam thing is pretty useless. I don’t really get why companies still include those, not many people use them. The brush that comes in this palette is an exception. It’s a full sized dual ended brush with one shader side and one blending side. I’m not a big fan of travel sized brushes because I find them awkward, so I’m glad that this is a full size. It’s definitely a high quality brush, as the bristles are densely packed and it applies shadows really evenly. The blending side is the brush is really dense as well and is great for rounding out harsh lines or uneven edges. So props to Urban Decay for not just putting in a brush just to have it and actually picking something that’s good quality. I give this part of the palette an A+ for sure 🙂

The Primer(s)

This is the booklet that came with the palette. Each section of the booklet has one style of their popular primer potions. Now a lot of people are complaining that these are samples and that they should have included a tube of one version and although I agree I will say that there is quite a bit of product included. I have started to use the original and it’s lasted me 2 weeks at this point and there’s at least a week’s worth of product left. Now I don’t wear makeup every day, but I do pretty often so I think the size that offered is fair. I do think it would have been a little less messy to just do a small tube, but it hasn’t dried up or anything so I’m not really complaining.

I was using the ELF Eyelid Primer in sheer prior to getting this sample and I never had an issue with it. I have heard people say that these are the same, I’m here to say 100% they are not. The ELF one is pretty thin, so it evens out slight discoloration and helps with creasing, but it doesn’t help eyeshadows stick. The Urban Decay is much thicker like a concealer and stays a little tacky so it makes shadows stick. Overall I think that if you have issues with oily eyelids or serious discoloration, spend the money on the Urban Decay. For people with normal eyelids, the ELF version does the job. My only complaint about this addition to the palette is the varieties they included. In addition to the original version which is just sheer, they included a matte nude, a shimmer and an anti-aging. I personally enjoy a sheer primer. I basically only want it to be a base, so I don’t see myself wanting to use the shimmer one often, which is a problem in the format that they’ve put it in for this palette. If I don’t use if for a period of time, it might dry out. Also in terms of the anti-aging, I mean it’s nice but not a need right now, as I basically have no aging to undo.  I am enjoying the samples and I may buy a small tube because you only need a tiny amount, so I think it would last a long time. Overall, I give this component of the palette a B+.

The Eyeshadows

The last piece of the palette is really the star of this review.

In general the majority of the shades are buttery, pigmented and true to colour.

Strange– a matte cream shade with a pink undertone. It’s especially nice because it isn’t stark white, so it looks natural under the brow bone or in the inner corner.

Dust– This seems to be the shade that people have had issues with in the palette. It’s a very glittery, girly pink with tons of sparkle. Now this shade definitely isn’t as buttery or pigmented as the others, but I have found a solution. In order to make it work, I spray my brush with a little setting spray before dipping it in and it creates a shimmery, metallic pink. This allows your brush to pick up more of the base colour so that it’s not just a few glitters. It is one of my favourites, it is worth the extra step. I love putting this right in the centre of my lid.

Burnout– When I first used this shade, I’ll admit I was concerned. This shade definitely has an orange undertone, so alone, it made me look sick. It is a beautiful shade, but for me it has to be blended with more true pink shades or it’s not flattering.

Limit- This is definitely my most used shade in the palette. It’s a matte light mauve that is beautiful all over or as a transition shade. It is so pretty. Obsessed!

Buzz- This a true rose shade with a little shimmer. It looks great with Nooner or Limit. Very multi-purpose

Trick- I’ll admit that I’m a bit afraid of this shade. it is a true copper with a very slight pink undertone. After seeing what Burnout looked like on my complexion, using something even more orange is concerning. My plan is to play around with a copper eye on a lazy day so I can see what it will look like all done on a day where I don’t need to go anywhere. I do have a lot of green in my eyes so logically it should look nice, but I don’t know if it works with my skin tone.

Nooner– Nooner is a darker version of Limit and it’s so gorgeous. It is the perfect matte crease colour. It brings so much dimension to any eye look.

Liar- A very shimmery mauve-taupe colour. For a smokey look it’s really pretty over top of Nooner or in the outer v.

Factory– This shade is a deep mauve with a lot of brown undertone. Very neutral and great for amping up a simple eye look.

Mugshot- This shade is a deep bronze with a mauve undertone. It’s a super complex colour. It looks different from every angle when you swatch it.

Darkside– In the pan this looks like a deep taupe shade, but when it’s swatched it has hints of mauve, purple. It’s a colour that you don’t see in many other palettes. Very unique.

Blackheart- This is also a pretty unique shade. Unlike the matte black included in the Naked 2 this is a black with red shimmer in it. It’s really pretty, but the shimmers don’t really translate when it’s blended. Still beautiful though.

I’m giving the eyeshadows an A.

The Lowdown

So overall I think that this a beautiful palette. It has a lot of shades that I didn’t have or didn’t see often. There are multiple looks that you can create with this, for both day and night so it is versatile. It can look a little monochromatic if you use some of the similar shades together. Now this isn’t necessarily a bad thing because if monochromatic is done well it can be beautiful, but you do have to pair the shades correctly to create dimension or it can look a little flat.

Since purchasing this palette, I have reached for it quite often. When I don’t have a lot of time, it’s a quick way to look put together and not overdone. The majority of the shades in this palette are extremely flattering to my hazel eyes and it really makes them pop with minimal effort.

Who is this for?

I think this palette is suitable for anyone who is novice upwards. You can create a beautiful look with only 2 shades if you apply them correctly. The only reason I wouldn’t suggest this for a beginner is because pink shades really do need to be applied properly or you can look sick. So as long as you have a basic understanding on how to apply makeup, then you’re good to go! I would highly suggest this to green or hazel eyes because it does so much for them! If you want to take minimal effort and have your eyes pop out, then this is for you. I’ve also heard it’s beautiful on blue eyes, but I haven’t got to test that out yet.

I think this palette is suitable for someone who has neutral eyeshadows already in their collection. For me, this wouldn’t be like my desert island palette, only because I would like more variety. If you are someone who has lots of browns and neutrals and this is an excellent break from those, just to shake it up a bit, while still looking put together and not too wild.

If neutrals are all you like, then I would suggest the Naked 2 because that is neutrals for sure. I don’t have the Naked original to compare, but here are the palettes together so you can see. If you want a full review of the Naked 2, click here.

Naked 3, top. Naked 2, bottom.

All in all I think this palette is worth the money. $62CAD seems like a lot, but that’s less than $5 a shade when you incorporate the extras (brush, primers). If you consider the price of say, MAC shadows at $18 I believe, then this is more cost friendly. In no way am I saying this is cheap because it isn’t but I don’t think you’ll feel ripped off if you purchase this.

I give this palette an A as a total grade. I have to say, Urban Decay, I am hooked.I hope you enjoyed this review, let me know in the comments below what you think! I am trying to get this blog going, so if you like what you read, feel free to share it! I’ll love you forever 🙂

Bye for now!
